Our Fearless Warriors
Our Warriors

Basia, 8
Basia was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer called Rhabdomysarcoma. As her family navigates this new normal, we want to provide their family with the most support in these early stages. As of now, her treatment regimen consists of 10 straight months of chemo with no break. This alone is taxing on her body and she needs all the encouragement and hope to get through it all without pain and suffering.
As of December 2025 she has been in remission for two years.

Theo, 4
Theo was diagnosed in February 2024 with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor, which is a rare and aggressive form of cancer most commonly found in children under the age of 3. Theo had his first craniotomy just 3 days after diagnosis on March 1st, 2024 where they were able to resect the entire tumor. He began chemotherapy had a routine 6-week post-op MRI before he started his 2nd cycle of chemo and we discovered while he was getting chemotherapy that the tumor had started to regrow in just 6 short weeks. Thankfully, with further scans, we were able to see the tumor responding to chemotherapy and shrinking. Theo, lovingly referred to as “Theo Bear” is an energetic, playful, loving little boy. He loves letters, numbers, Cocomelon, and playing with his two older brothers.

Mickey, 4
Mickey Picariello was diagnosed with group 3 medulloblastoma when he started complaining of headaches. He developed hydrocephalus and needed emergency surgery to relieve pressure in his brain. He had multiple tumors in his brain which spread to his spine. All of his tumors were inoperable, so we are counting on the chemo to do its job. Micky spent 5 long weeks in the PICU until we went to the pediatric oncology unit. He now continues having scans and maintenance chemotherapy.

Samira, 9 Months
Samira is a 9-month-old bright, smiley girl who lights up every room. After noticing subtle but concerning symptoms, we rushed her to the ER, where doctors discovered her heart had been pushed to the side and her lung compressed by fluid. Further imaging revealed the cause — a very large abdominal mass blocking her lymphatic system. After days of procedures, testing, and waiting, Samira was diagnosed with Stage 4 Intermediate Risk Neuroblastoma. She is now at the tail end of Cycle 1 of chemotherapy, taking this journey one step at a time with incredible strength.

Matthew, 12
In June 2024, Matthew, a joyful and healthy 10-year-old, was diagnosed with High-Risk B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). Since beginning treatment, Matthew has faced numerous challenges as a result of intensive chemotherapy. Despite these trials, Matthew remains resilient. He is bravely working through the many rigorous phases of treatment with one unwavering goal: to ring the end-of-treatment bell and reclaim his normal childhood. He enjoys mind puzzles, video games and challenging DIY projects – along with camping, outdoor parks and going out to eat with his family.
In Memory Of

Amarachi
Amarachi Okere passed away after a long and courageous fight against cancer at age 15. She was a member of the Sophomore Class at Kinnelon High School. Amarachi was truly a bright and beautiful light in the lives of everyone she touched, bringing joy wherever she went. Much of Machi’s time was spent caring for her beloved animals, reading, horseback riding, and practicing her faith. Her strength, kindness, and love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Joseph
Joseph was known for his remarkable bravery and maturity, traits that belied his young age. Even in the face of illness, he displayed an inspiring resilience, never once complaining and facing life’s challenges with grace and dignity. His spirit touched the lives of many, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of family and friends.

Rilyn
Rilyn left this world surrounded by the people she loved. Her life was too short, but she filled every day with kindness, joy, and a light that touched everyone around her. Donations in her name to the Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh will go to children undergoing cancer treatments there.

Charlotte
In January 2025 our warrior Charlotte O’Brien passed away from Neuroblastoma at 9 years old. The Ferluge family met Charlotte at Sloan Kettering and learned quickly the toll it takes on a family as hers traveled from Arizona to New York to receive treatment. The length the O’Brian family went – figuring out flights, housing, and logistics along with how to maintain a home on the other side of the country was eye opening and inspired the creation of the Gracie’s Army Foundation. We will remember her and honor her with the work we do to continue to shine a light on the hardship pediatric cancer causes children and their families.

Liam
In 2023 God called Liam home. Liam was a fighter. Liam means strong willed warrior which fit him perfectly. Nothing stopped Liam. He was full of life even though he fought for his life every day. He taught all those that surrounded him to not take life for granted, to live in the moment, to smile even when life doesn’t turn out the way you hoped it would, to love, and how to fight. Liam had a love for dinosaurs and all types of animals. He LOVED to run and go to the park. It didn’t matter how sick Liam was, he would keep going.
